Elana Bertram, JD/MBA

Bridging legal and regulatory know-how with strategic thinking, Elana Bertram, JD/MBA, has worn nearly every "hat" there is in intellectual property portfolio management, spanning from patent and trademark prosecution for big corporations, serving as general counsel to a cancer research foundation and a digital health seed stage VC fund, to counseling startups and small businesses preparing to license, sell, or litigate their IP.

Elana is a partner at Parlatore Law Group, LLC, a cloud-based full-service law firm. She's also an Assistant Professor of Management at Hawaii Pacific University College of Business, teaching business law, ethics, and strategic management to undergraduate and MBA candidates. She earned a BA in Biological Sciences from Mount Holyoke College, then graduated magna cum laude from Quinnipiac University School of Law. After practicing for several years, she earned her MBA concentrating on Asset Management from Yale School of Management. She's admitted to practice law in New York, Connecticut, and before the United States Patent & Trademark Office.

She's a mentor with Blue Startups, a venture accelerator based in Honolulu, HI, as well as the REC Innovation Lab at San Diego Miramar College. She previously served as Vice-Chair of the Economic Development Commission in Newtown, CT and has been a sought-after speaker for continuing education programming for lawyers and other professionals.
